I have been a professional quilter since 2012. Before launching my business, I sewed quilts for friends and family for about 20 years. I enjoy designing art quilts in my studio for competitions, and have won multiple first, second, and third place awards. Many of my quilts have been included in trunk shows that toured the United States. While I love the challenge of quilt competitions, I cherish quilting with friends in a local group where we learn techniques from each other.
Quilting brings me great joy and I would love to make one for you!
Orbits was Rhea’s first venture into modern quilting. Awarded first place blue ribbon in appliqued wall hangings at the 2018 Boulder County Fair in Colorado, it also was chosen to travel with the Hoffman Challenge September 2015-August 2016 trunk show. This stunning quilt was scaled down from the 80″x 80″ pattern entitled Clarity by Brigitte Heitland to 38″x38″, and sparked a love of modern quilting by Rhea.
Named for the celebration of Christmas, this quilt was designed to commemorate Hoffman Challenge‘s 30 Anniversary season. It measures 33″ x 24 1/4″ and is based on the pattern Little Pine Tree Pin Quilt by Sandi Irish. The fabric itself evoked Christmas ornaments to Rhea, who created a Christmas Tree adorned with hand-sewn embellishments inspired from her own family’s Christmas ornament collection. After five months of love and hard work, Celebration was chosen to travel with Trunk “F” for the August 2018-2019 season.
This small quilt, 19″ x 19″, has a lot of sparkle and pop for being made in just two weeks! It is based upon the pattern Out of the Shadows by Konda Luckau. Better Than a Box of Chocolates was chosen to travel with the Hoffman Challenge‘s Trunk “N” for the August 2018-2019 season. Rhea used 100% Hoffman fabrics and Madeira silver metallic thread for her uniquely ruler based, free hand style quilting technique.
